Re: Just a heads up!
We were able to get home, and we're inside.
I don't know what the neighbors are yelling about, but I am half waiting for more gunfire.

We're okay, home and inside and locked up.
The parents next door were out of town so the son had buddies over and pumped music all night. Pretty sure his ass was drunk and playing when he popped off three rounds at 3:30 am. I keep hoping he will move out, or get a job or something...

They got him! 1500 miles, and several states away. But they got him! Apparently he kidnapped a woman and forced her to drive him around for 33 hours!

Police were searching one of my mom's neighbor's barns for the guy. My kids are with their dad today, so hopefully unaffected until they get the guy.
My high school was locked down for a shooter on campus. My volleyball teammates (from another school) were in the cafeteria when a shooter came in and killed students and teachers. I was at Virginia Tech when 32 were killed and 17 were injured. I waited three days before I finally heard from all my friends. I watched from the shoulder of the freeway as police raced to a local community college, and now my parents are under a shelter in place order, and I can't go home because of that same order.
Because of God. Damned. Mother-Fucking. Gun. Nuts.

Re: Just a heads up!
My dad's in the hospital. He has been having rapidly worsening struggles with dementia for awhile, and blood pressure issues. He went in for a uti, but they haven't been able to stabilize his blood pressure, so he can't come home. We can't go see him because we're in the middle of a huge covid spike (thanks anti-vax and anti-maskers.) I got to talk to him on the phone, and he sounded better than when we took him to urgent care.
We had to verbally approve a DNR today.
I really appreciate some distraction, but I'm a bit of a mess if I'm slow to respond that's why.

No change today.
Doing alright here today. He doesn't know how to answer the phone there, so it's hard to get through to him, and we have to catch an on duty nurse with a moment so... We got to talk to him earlier though, so that was good.

No real change, but they are getting him transferred to home care. He comes home tomorrow, and nurses will come to the house. At least we'll be able to be with him.

My dad is home, and doing as well as can be expected. My little had a fever last night though so we can't go see him, and I am having a terrible time trying the little a covid test! It's supposed to be easy to get those!

Waiting for test results for my little. His pediatrician keeps calling the wrong number, no matter how many times I ask them to change it. Hopefully today we'll have results. Probably tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

I GOT TO SEE MY DAD! Only for a moment, just waving into his room from the hall, but I got to see him. They're still experimenting with meds, so hopefully something will help. But he's home while they do this now. Instead of just waiting for them to find the right combination in the hospital where we can't see him.
One of my coworkers just tested positive. He's not really in close contact with anyone, and was already in quarantine after someone in his home tested positive, but yeah... poor crew at work is strapped.

Hooray for see Dad !! That's fricking awesome!
Did the docs finally get the number right and call about little ones results?!
And pooo I can only imagine how stressful that would be to have the c19 in the work place! Hope co worker gets better and the rest don't catch it!!
*Snug snug* must find more funnies to share laters!

Re: Just a heads up!
The doctor's office did finally get the number right. We got the negative test result just before the kids' dad came to get them! I went to see my parents for a little while then went into work.
I don't think I have ever been so excited to go to work in my life!
As for my coworker, they were pretty well distanced from people, and we're all masked. And everyone in the household that was affected is doing well. So hopefully they're cleared after next week! There are only three of us who know that job, and two of us were out the last few days! That third person was really happy to see me today! LOL!

That birrrrd!! I couldn't tell what it had at first! I had to zoom in!
I had plenty to do at home for those couple days. So that wasn't really a problem. Just... super stressful, and it was so nice to be cleared.

Re: Just a heads up!
I don't know what that is, but it is definitely alarming!
I can't tell where this fire is supposed to be. I'm getting mixed messages about it's location. Hopefully someone is just confused and there aren't two of them! My phone gives us evacuation orders, and the radio is charged and tuned to the one useful station in the area in case the power goes out.
All the other stations told us to go visit their Facebook page for more updates. Well, guess what happens in the outlying areas when the power goes out! No power, no water, no phone and definitely no internet!
The country station knows who their listeners are though! LOL! They kept real updates on the air last year when we had huge fires on the other side of town.

Re: Just a heads up!
So, I found out the confusion was because there were THREE FIRES! Three! Over a 5-mile stretch!
Our fire department is frickin' amazeballs though, and knocked down all three before they could get too far!
But three fires like that is either a malfunctioning vehicle, or a firebug working the area. I guess we'll find out tonight...

male mouse spider - that's threat display, managed to shoot him with no problems just thought he was very pretty all red and blue like that.
hows it all going? Hope it's a malfunctioning vehicle not a fire bug!

I kee missing you on Chatzy!!! It's been an emotionally exhausting couple weeks, and I have been in bed a bit earlier than usual.
I think we're starting to settle into a bit if a routine though. Which will all be upended when school starts next week!
My kids are online again. I really wanted the older one in person, but... we're not there yet. Especially with everything going on.

Re: Just a heads up!
Been trying to type this one since last night. My dad passed away last night. The dementia caused his circulatory system to just forget how to work.
My mom called and said his O2 dropped. The kids and I got there, gave him one last hug and then within minutes he was gone. I think he waited for us.
We're doing okay. It's been a long road to this point, and we knew it was coming. It doesn't make it not hurt, but... yeah.

*huuuugs!* I know you guys are super busy and worker-less!
Work was another good distraction today. The three of us who know most of the things that have to be done as soon as they come in have a lot going on at home right now. Usually three is plenty, but... there's too much at the moment. I spent all day training people to make sure things are covered just in case there's a day where none of us can mange being at work.
I have a feeling it's going to be a long weekend though. We'll manage. We're doing okay, and have people around us.

Starting to get windy, I think the bomb cyclone has arrived. The worst should miss us, but definitely potential for lost power/Internet/etc.

Re: Just a heads up!
We lost my dad in September, one of the members of a group I'm part of has been sick for awhile, and passed away last week, and I got a phone call today that one of our close family friends (one of my dad's childhood friends.) passed away this morning. I had to rush home to get the kids so my mom could go be with his wife at least until their kids could get here from out of state late tonight. They were both super helpful for my mom when my dad passed away.
He went for a run yesterday, was fine this morning, then Bam. Gone.
There are a lot of people who I wouldn't have been shocked to hear died, but this man? Just... blown away.
Could really do without friends and family dying for a little while.

We are in the midst of an unheard of snowstorm for the area. Our power was out when I left, no idea when power or Internet is going to be available.
We have a generator to run a couple heaters, so should be okay!

Re: Just a heads up!
Hoooopefully last night was the worst of it. My van wouldn't start (again) day before yesterday, so it's disabled and waiting for a tow to the shop. They're hopefully coming tomorrow.
Generator wouldn't start, and we miraculously found a new one. We got it set up today, but were very cold last night! Power was out most of yesterday, last night and all this morning. I turned on a heater when it was on for a couple hours last night, and got one well insulated room warm.
Power and internet came back up today. It's snowing again, so not sure if either will last! Really hoping they do though! And it's a much lighter snow, but it should continue through Thursday! We never get weather like this. The area just isn't equipped for it. So... hoping, but wouldn't be surprised if we lose power again.

Re: Just a heads up!
Power out for a little while isn't too bad, and it's not a big deal in the summer necessarily. The problem was that it was COLD! And we don't really have another way to heat the houses. And when the power goes out, the phones and water do too, so we're pretty well stuck.
We keep water though, so we've done okay with that so far. The problem was definitely the heat. We did finally get a generator that runs though, so if it goes down again in the winter, we can at least run some heaters. Looking at some better weather this week though!
And I got my van back, 'just the battery' again. Something is killing the batteries, and none of the shops I've taken it to can figure it out. Search continues next time it dies, I guess. I'd replace it, but car prices right now are absolutely insane. I bought it almost seven years ago, and could sell it now for nearly what I paid initially. It's nuts.

M sometimes with car batteries it's something as simple as the connections to it being a bit corroded or not tight about..m and sometime not so simple siiigh I know my Car as of this year is ten years old.
*Snugs* Maaaan I would be hibernating in the cold by now such a sun lizard on this end hehehe

Re: Just a heads up!
I bought it used, so yeah, it's older. Yeah, there's definitely something wrong, and it's probably something little like that, but it's not making itself easy to find. This shop went into more depth than the other two have, and still couldn't find it. They have it in their system now though, so each time it goes in, they'll sort of keep an eye out for something that might be the problem.
For now though, it's running, and that's apparently all I can do. New Year, I can hope it's magically not going to be a problem anymore, right?

Yikes! Steering changes mid corner would be mildly alarming! I hope that magically sorts itself out too!
Yeah, pretty much every time I get gas anymore, the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree as it does when the gas cap isn't screwed on properly. This time I think it actually wasn't on right because I could smell gasoline when I got out of the van. I have the little code reader though, so was able to turn them off! Hopefully they stay off this time!
Trading the snow storm for high winds and heavy rain that should last all week. I really hope the weather calms down sometime soon!
